Titanium ingots are metal titanium blocks formed by melting titanium sponge (or titanium sponge plus alloy elements), and are the primary products of titanium and titanium alloys. Titanium ingots usually have a silvery-white metallic luster. They are dense metal blocks obtained by high-temperature melting of titanium sponge, which are convenient for further forging and processing into titanium materials. The raw material for producing titanium ingots is titanium sponge. Only after titanium sponge is made into a dense forgeable metal can it be machined and widely used in various industrial sectors.

The main component of titanium ingots is titanium, which has extremely high chemical activity and thermodynamic stability and will not undergo oxidation reaction in general air. Its density is relatively low, only 4.5 g/cm3, which is about 60% of general steel, making it an ideal material for manufacturing lightweight products. In addition, titanium ingots also have excellent properties such as high strength and corrosion resistance, and are widely used in aerospace, shipbuilding, automobiles, medical equipment, petroleum, chemical and other fields. In the field of aerospace, titanium ingots are used to manufacture aircraft structural parts, engine parts, etc., which can significantly reduce the overall weight and improve flight performance and economy. In the field of medical device manufacturing, titanium ingots are widely used in the manufacture of artificial joints, dental implants and other products due to their excellent biocompatibility.
The production process of titanium ingots mainly includes ore dressing, titanium chloride preparation, reduction refining and separation purification. For ordinary titanium ingot smelting, it usually takes 2-3 smeltings to complete. In China, the main method of smelting titanium ingots is vacuum consumable arc furnace (VAR), and some are produced by electron beam cooling furnace (EBCHM).
In general, as an important metal material, titanium ingots play a key role in many fields and promote technological progress and product performance.
