Titanium tube classification

Titanium tubes are generally divided into two types: one is the extruded type called seamless titanium tube; the other is the welded type called welded titanium tube.

 

Extruded titanium tube (seamless titanium tube)

 

1. Extruded titanium tube (seamless titanium tube): including cold-rolled tube, spun tube, and stretched tube, which is a long titanium material with a hollow cross-section and no seams around it.

 

2. The minimum specification of the tube is generally 2mmx0.5mm in diameter, while the maximum length of the high-precision ultra-long pure titanium seamless tube can reach 15m.

 

3. There are generally two methods to prepare titanium tube billets. One is the drilling/perforation extrusion process, which has large metal loss but uniform tube billet wall thickness; the other is the oblique rolling perforation process, which has small metal consumption but large tube billet thickness tolerance, which is more suitable for single specifications and large batches.

 

Welded titanium tube

 

1. Welded titanium tube: short production process, high production efficiency, and no limit on tube length.

 

2. Suitable for the production of thin-walled tubes with relatively single specifications, varieties, and grades and large batches.

 

3. The production process of titanium welded tubes is: titanium strip coil - longitudinal shearing - welding - shaping and sizing - heat treatment - straightening - eddy current, ultrasonic testing - airtightness testing - finished welded pipe.
