What are the forms of titanium corrosion?

 

Titanium corrosion forms include general corrosion and local corrosion. General corrosion is a form of uniform corrosion. Local corrosion is a local corrosion form relative to general corrosion. It can be divided into: tower corrosion, pitting corrosion, corrosion cracking, galvanic corrosion, corrosion, hydrogen absorption and hydrogen embrittlement.

 

(1) Column corrosion: corrosion occurs at the edge of the coating or between the folds and between the columns close to the coating, generally occurring in narrower columns.

 

(2) Pitting corrosion: corrosion that occurs during the hole opening process, such as corrosion caused by the presence of halogen ions such as Cl⁻, Br-, and I⁻.

 

(3) Corrosion cracking is a brittle failure caused by stress under specific conditions.

 

(4) Abrasion: The phenomenon that the fluid promotes electrochemical corrosion due to mechanical action.

 

(5) Galvanic corrosion: Also known as contact corrosion of dissimilar metals, it is the phenomenon that the metal with lower potential is promoted to corrode under electrical short circuit conditions.

 

(6) Hydrogen absorption and hydrogen embrittlement: When hydrogen is removed from the material and the amount removed exceeds the solid solubility limit of the material, brittle hydrides will be formed, resulting in hydrogen embrittlement.
