The density of titanium alloy is generally about 4.51g/ cubic centimeter, only 60% of steel, the density of pure titanium is close to the density of general steel, and some high-strength titanium alloys exceed the strength of many alloy structural steel. The chemical activity of titanium is large, and O, N, H, CO, CO2, water vapor, ammonia and other intense chemical reactions occur in the atmosphere. When the carbon content is greater than 0.2%, it will form hard TiC in titanium alloy; When the temperature is higher, the N effect will also form a hard TiN surface. Above 600℃, titanium absorbs oxygen to form a hard hardening layer; The increase of hydrogen content will also form an embrittlement layer. The depth of the hard and brittle surface caused by gas absorption can reach 0.1 ~ 0.15mm, and the hardening degree is 20% ~ 30%.
