Titanium Glasses Plate  Description

 

Titanium plates for glasses frames, referred to as titanium glasses plates, are made of titanium materials and are divided into pure titanium glasses plates, B-15333 titanium glasses plates, and TC4 titanium alloy glasses plates. Titanium has good corrosion resistance, similar to that of platinum, as well as excellent mechanical properties. When used in glasses frames, it offers the advantages of lightweight, flexibility, and corrosion resistance.

Chemical composition of several titanium glasses plates

 

Pure titanium (TA1, TA2): The titanium (Ti) content exceeds 99% and contains small amounts of impurities such as iron, oxygen, and hydrogen. It is lightweight and corrosion-resistant.

 

β titanium alloy (such as Ti-15V-3Cr-3Sn-3Al): Based on titanium, with added alloying elements such as vanadium (V), chromium (Cr), tin (Sn), and aluminum (Al). It has high strength and good elasticity, making it suitable for memory-type frames.

 

Titanium-nickel alloy (Ti-Ni): Composed mainly of titanium and nickel. It has a shape memory function, strong deformation resistance, and is often used for frame parts that require high elasticity.

Advantages of several titanium glasses plates:

 

Pure titanium is divided into soft plate and hard plate. In general, soft plate is slightly more expensive than hard plate. The hardness of soft plate is typically required to be 67–80; it can be stamped. The hardness of hard plate is generally 90–97; it cannot be stamped and can only be cut by wire.

 

β-titanium 15333 titanium alloy is a titanium material in which cooling completes the formation of β particles at the β-transus point of titanium. Its processing technology is more advanced than that of pure titanium, and it has good shape plasticity. In the solid solution state, its elastic modulus is about 80 GPa, slightly higher than that of titanium-nickel shape memory alloy (about 60 GPa), and it has a higher elastic recovery force (meaning that an arch wire does not undergo permanent deformation after being bent over a long distance). It has low hardness and is easy to form. It can be bent or made into complex shapes without breaking. Lens frames made of β-titanium alloy compensate for the lack of elasticity in pure titanium frames. They offer good elasticity and memory characteristics. β-titanium alloy also has excellent processing performance and weldability.
