The full name of titanium electrode is titanium-based metal oxide coated titanium electrode (MMO). It is also called DSA electrode. (Dimensionally stable electrode). It uses titanium as a substrate and applies a precious metal coating on the titanium substrate to give it good electrocatalytic activity and conductivity.

Classification of titanium electrodes: According to the gas released by the electrode during the electrochemical reaction, the electrode that releases chlorine is called a chlorine release electrode, such as a ruthenium-coated titanium electrode: the electrode that releases oxygen is called an oxygen release electrode, such as an iridium-coated titanium electrode and a platinum titanium mesh/plate.

Chlorine release electrode (ruthenium-coated titanium electrode): The chloride ion content in the electrolyte is high: generally in a hydrochloric acid environment and in the electrolysis of seawater and in the electrolysis of salt water. The corresponding products of our company are ruthenium-iridium-titanium electrode and ruthenium-iridium-tin titanium electrode.

Oxygen release electrode (iridium-coated titanium electrode): The electrolyte is generally a sulfuric acid environment. The corresponding products of our company are iridium-tantalum electrode, tantalum-tin electrode, and high-iridium electrode.

Platinum-plated electrode (platinum titanium mesh/platinum titanium plate): titanium is the base material. The surface is plated with precious metal platinum, and the thickness of the coating is generally 1-5um (micrometer). The mesh specifications of the platinum titanium mesh are generally 12.7*4.5mm or 6*3.5mm.

Electrode selection: If the customer is not sure what electrode to use, we need the customer to provide the working environment and medium of the electrode; the current density per square meter. (The current intensity carried by a single electrode divided by the surface area of the electrode); the working temperature, the pH value of the solution, and the composition and proportion of the solution; the products produced or the purpose, etc. Information, recommend the customer a suitable electrode.

What is the role of the metal oxide coating on the titanium electrode?
By covering different coatings, the conductivity and electrocatalytic activity are enhanced, the electrolytic reaction process is promoted, and the service life of the electrode in different use environments is extended to achieve the expected use effect. The thickness of the metal oxide coating on the titanium electrode: The electrochemical catalytic reaction is mainly the precious metal in the coating. Only when the precious metal content meets the use requirements can the normal operation of the electrode product be guaranteed. The thickness is only an appearance, which is mainly determined by the number of brushing and the concentration of the solvent. It has no direct connection with the amount of precious metal content. Too thick a coating is more likely to fall off.
