Titanium-clad copper rod (also known as titanium-copper composite rod) is a bidirectional metal composite rod with a layer of titanium (generally 1.0 mm–1.2 mm thick) coated around a copper rod. According to its cross-sectional geometry, it is mainly divided into round, flat, square, rectangular, drum-shaped, and other types.
Because the titanium alloy plate and the copper interlayer fit closely, the deformation of the titanium alloy plate during the manufacturing process is extremely small, which effectively ensures that the titanium alloy plate is not damaged due to excessive deformation. The process is simple and efficient, achieving the goals of saving titanium material, improving production efficiency, and reducing production costs. Composite rods of different specifications, such as round, drum-shaped, square, and flat, can be produced according to user requirements, and different shapes of bending and welding can also be performed. Other specifications of titanium-copper composite rods can be trial-produced based on user requirements. Ultrasonic flaw detection is used for the inspection of titanium-copper composite rods.
Performance of titanium-copper composite rod:
As the main component of the metal anode, the titanium-copper composite rod has the following three functions:
Supporting the anode: The titanium-copper composite rod has a certain strength and bending resistance. The yield strength of the composite rod reaches 128 MPa, fully meeting the production design requirements.
Excellent conductivity: The explosion + rolling production process is used to tightly and completely bond titanium and copper without delamination. As a result, the rod has good conductivity, with a composite strength of 135 MPa and a micro-resistance of 7.77×10⁶ Ω.
Corrosion resistance: The outer layer of the titanium-copper composite rod is in direct contact with the electrolytic medium. The pure titanium outer layer has excellent corrosion resistance (see the table below), and its service life is more than 10 times longer than that of electrodes made from other materials.
