Titanium anodes for sodium hypochlorite generators are mainly used for the treatment of bacterial wastewater in hospitals and the treatment of cyanide-containing wastewater in electroplating. They can also be used for the disinfection of swimming pools, drinking water, domestic sewage, food processing plant environments, and medical equipment, restaurants, and tableware and drinking utensils in public canteens. The generator container is generally a tubular, internally cooled, monopolar, and serially connected combination. The generator anode is based on titanium, coated with ruthenium and iridium, with low potential and long life. Under normal operating conditions, each one can generate continuously for 200-300 hours each time. The characteristic is that the sodium hypochlorite generation process is a diaphragm natural circulation form, so the salt utilization rate is high, the current efficiency of the electrolysis process is high, the sodium hypochlorite yield is large, the energy consumption is small, and the operating cost is low.

Types and characteristics

 

In foreign countries, the titanium anode of the sodium hypochlorite generator is mostly made of platinum, iridium-ruthenium alloy and titanium-plated platinum anode. In China, coated titanium electrodes are currently mainly used. When titanium-plated platinum electrodes are used in sodium hypochlorite cells, the overpotential is higher and shorter. The IrO2-coated anode has excellent durability, the overpotential is 0.2V lower than that of titanium-plated platinum electrodes, and the chlorine evolution current efficiency is higher.
